Lowered Expectations

 .
I’d like to thank the President
For help in steering clear
Of those who are the one percent
And have a good career.
 .
His economic policies
Have led to my release
From economic liberty
I knew with Credit Suisse.
 .
I rode the rollercoaster down
With unemployment checks,
Until I joined the salaried staff
That ran the megaplex.
 .
But even that was not immune
From his economy,
Which powers almost all its growth
Through fiscal policy.
 .
So now I search the classifieds
And air my discontent
With vagabonds from #Occupy
Who curse the one percent.
.

My goal is to produce poetical cartoons. I try to use metaphors and caricatures (or a politician’s own words) to address complex political and social situations. In this way, I sum up current events in humorous verse.
