Yesterday at the Fleece Me blog, the man of sheepish wit proposed that, in order to defeat the liberals in the battle of ideas, we must first understand the liberals. I couldn’t agree more and so today I would like to make an effort to expand the subject a little further.
In my somewhat twisted and turbulent mind, I see the liberals as being composed of four distinct groups. I’ve given each group a name:
- Blind Followers
- The Dupes
- The Political Class
- The Real Power
Groups 1 and 2 together, I’m guessing, make-up 98% of the liberals. What’s the split between the two? I don’t know; maybe 50/50.
The Blind Followers
The Blind Follower’s are non-political. They rarely think about or talk about politics. They vote for the Democrats because their fathers do or their friends do or maybe because their unions tell them that is how they should vote. Included in this group are those that are beneficiaries of one or more of the government’s social programs These are not necessarily stupid people; they are just detached from the political scene and they have very little understanding of economics. Remember that political philosophy and economic philosophy are so intertwined as to be inseparable.
The Dupes are those that have bought the socialist propaganda hook, line, and sinker. They love all the feel good stuff. These people are idealist. They love politics and are politically active. They have no understanding of economics and will not listen to reason. These people are a great danger to America. It’s this group that I think Fleece Me did an outstanding job of analyzing. I highly recommend that you to read his essay.
The Political Class
We all know who The Political Class are; our fearless leaders in Washington. They pretend to believe in the liberal ideals but in truth they only use those concepts to gain control over groups 1 and 2; to increase their power base. In reality they have nothing but disdain and contempt for the people in groups 1 and 2. They will say and do anything to keep themselves in power. They see groups 1 and 2 as their useful idiots.
The Real Power
We don’t know with any certainty who these people are. Conspiracy theorist claim they are the families who own the worlds largest investment banks. I don’t know who they are, but who ever they are, they do have enormous influence over the Fed and The Political Class is their useful idiot. Whether people like George Soros are part of this group or are just other useful idiots, I don’t know. The motives of this group can only be the lust for more and more wealth and the power to manipulate the world’s economy.
Strategies and Tactics for Winning the War
Assuming I’ve done an adaquate job of identifying the enemy, we can now move the discussion of the strategies and tactics needed to win this war of wars. First, in my opinion, it would be a waste of our time and energy to trying to attack group 4. One can’t fight an unidentified enemy. The only way for us to defeat group 4 is to take overwhelming control of group 3 and maintain that control for many years plus we have to get rid of the Fed as it is today. If we don’t get rid of the Fed, nothing else we do will matter.
So how do we achieve overwhelming control of group 3, The Political Class, and turn into a government respectful of the constitution and of the people? The recent mid-term elections demonstrated the rising tide of conservatism in America but we will need to swell our ranks even more. Our best hunting ground for converts lays with the so-called independents. They are the most open-minded. Amongst the liberals, I believe our best chances are in group 1, The Blind Followers. In this group there are people with potential. We need to work on that potential. One of the many points made by Fleece Me in his essay was that liberals never think about the future consequences of their actions. I believe that if we take the time to seek out liberals from group 1 and talk to them about the future our philosophy offers compared to that of the liberals, we may win over a few converts. Remember, that each liberal convert means a two vote swing for us; the liberals lose one and we gain one. I look forward to the day we can begin talking about strategy and tactics for when we do have overwhelming control of group 3.
Well those are my thoughts. If you want to share your thoughts, you know what to do. LETS TALK!
