“The Jewish President” a poem by the Bard of Murdock

It’s Sunday and today¡s poem by The Bard of Murdock takes aim at our composit President. The poem was originally published on Thursday, May 31, 2012. Please be sure to read the article linked by the Bard.

 The Jewish President

Adams was a piker,
And Washington was daft.
But each knew more of Hebrew
Than Clinton, Polk and Taft.
.Grant was too dim-witted
To learn the Jewish ways,
But he was far more learned
Than Rutherford B. Hayes.
Taylor, Bush and Hoover
Could hardly read a book,
And Fillmore thought the Talmud
Not worth a second look.
Cleveland, Ford and Arthur
Knew nothing of Shevat
And Reagan thought that mitzvah
Might be a cosmonaut.
Lincoln, Pierce and Carter
Would never make the list,
Defining stellar students
Of all things Zionist.
For that we have Obama,
The academic Jew,
Who read a book on Israel
And doubled what he knew.

My goal is to produce poetical cartoons. I try to use metaphors and caricatures (or a politician’s own words) to address complex political and social situations. In this way, I sum up current events in humorous verse.
