Nancy Does Religion

.
I do religion Sundays,
And sometimes in between,
On Arbor Day and Earth Day,
And twice on Halloween.
 .
.And when I do religion
I feel all warmed inside,
By subsidized abortion
And LGBT pride.
.
I worship at the altar,
In ancient, sacred rites,
Of gratis contraception
And reproductive rights.
 .
No pointy-headed bishop,
Nor crozier-bearing pope,
Can speak for my religion,
Its dogma, creed or scope.
.
And when I do religion
I exercise free will,
By taking for communion
A contraceptive pill.
.

My goal is to produce poetical cartoons. I try to use metaphors and caricatures (or a politician’s own words) to address complex political and social situations. In this way, I sum up current events in humorous verse.
