Would’a, Could’a, Should’a _ Whatcha Gonna Do Now, House Republicans?

Charles Hurt, at the Washington Times, summed up my feelings on the election quite well in his opening lines:

ll that for nothing. It was the billion-dollar election that did not decide one single damned thing.

Republicans control the House. Democrats control the Senate. And the White House remains in Democratic hands with absolutely no mandate whatsoever.

Another four years with no hope of change.

That last line says it all. We conservatives have worn out our keyboards making the case for defeating Obama in 2012. After the 2012 mid-term elections, we were convinced that the American people had realized their error and would surely finish the correction in last Tuesday’s presidential election. I was certainly convinced that the voters were more upset in November 2012 than they were in November 2010. But, no!  Billions of campaign dollars later and billions of words later, absolutely nothing changed.

The hand wringing and analysis of what went wrong will go on for months, if not years. One time Republican presidential candidate, HHerman Cain, says it is time to think about a third party. You can bet there will be a lot of talk about third parties. In yesterday’s post I asked if this election  meant the Republican Party is finished? I suggested it should be  because they couldn’t even beat the worst president ever. So, what good are they? My friend, 5etester at the Spellchek blog, suggested it might be a little too soon to write off the Republicans:

If the GOP received any ‘message’ from the election, than they must respond by replacing Boehner. That will answer if they’re happy with the status quo.

There is a big positive from this for the GOP. The 2014 mid-terms. We already know Obama’s policy failures so the next two years will only magnify them. With 20 of the 33 seats up in the Senate being democrat, the GOP should simply default into a Senate majority in 2014.

Then we will know the future of the GOP. If they can’t control both chambers after two more years of a non-recovery, then we can say the party is done.

John Boehner no longer Speaker of the House. A Republican controlled Senate. Interesting!

So, what has been the reaction of Mr. Speaker to the Obama win? Yahoo News has this headline today: Boehner Welcomes Deficit Deal, Pledges to Work With Obama.  The Daily Caller has this headline: Boehner to Obama: ‘This is your moment,’ ‘we want you to succeed’. It’s the same old, same old posturing, isn’t it? I wonder what he means by wanting Obama to succeed? I read where Romney called for an end of partisanship in Congress. Really? Is that what we want? Mark  Levin comes much closer to expressing my feelings:

MARK LEVIN: We conservatives, we do not accept bipartisanship in the pursuit of tyranny. Period. We will not negotiate the terms of our economic and political servitude. Period. We will not abandon our child to a dark and bleak future. We will not accept a fate that is alien to the legacy we inherited from every single future generation in this country. We will not accept social engineering by politicians and bureaucrats who treat us like lab rats, rather than self-sufficient human beings. There are those in this country who choose tyranny over liberty. They do not speak for us, 57 million of us who voted against this yesterday, and they do not get to dictate to us under our Constitution.

We are the alternative. We will resist. We’re not going to surrender to this. We will not be passive, we will not be compliant in our demise. We’re not good losers, you better believe we’re sore losers! A good loser is a loser forever. Now I hear we’re called ‘purists.’ Conservatives are called purists. The very people who keep nominating moderates, now call us purists the way the left calls us purists. Yeah, things like liberty, and property rights, individual sovereignty, and the Constitution, and capitalism. We’re purists now. And we have to hear this crap from conservatives, or pseudo-conservatives, Republicans.

Yeah! I am not a good loser!

What are you going to do, House Republicans???

Do you have big enough stones to dump John Boehner? I doubt it! The American people gave you marching orders in he 2010 mid-terms. Did you listen? Hell no! All we got was a lot of sound and fury  signifying nothing!

It seems to this humble observer that you have two options.

Option No. 1: You can make a full frontal attack against the superior enemy forces. By that I mean you give the NOTHING! You do not raise the debt ceiling. In fact, you put together a budget that cuts the now $1 trillion stimulus package that you all let the Democrats to hide in the last several Continuing Resolutions. you tell president Obama and the Senate Democrats that they can either pass your budget or SHUT THE GOVERNMENT DOWN. PERIOD! What’s that you say? If you do what I’m suggesting the Democrats will take control of the House in the 2014 mid-term elections? I hope you don’t think I give a damn if some of you lose your jobs in two years.  We didn’t send you to Washington to make a career out of pissing in your pants!  We expect you to be the adults in the natiion’s House. When the children demand more and more candy and cake and pie and ice cream you are supposed to say NO! You are supposed to know that it is bad for them and not let them unwittingly do harm to themselves. And, don’t whine to me that you only control one-half of one branch of government. Our Founders gave you the power of the purse. It is in our constitution. READ IT! And, if the voters throw you out in two years, know that you went down fighting on the side of righteousness. I will love you for it!

Option No. 2.: You make an unconditional surrender to president Obama and the Democrats. If they are hell-bent on bringing economic  ruin on our country, let’s get it over with! If they want to tax the rich out of existence, let them do it! If they want to suffocate the life from business in America with Cap and Trade style regulations, let them do it! instead of letting them kill this economy slowly, let’s get it over with. Bring on the Greek style protests in the streets. Let the race riots begin. let the blood of freedom start to flow. L et’s find out if there are enough true Americans left to rise up out of the ashes and rebuild the America we once were. Rebuild it better and stronger. Do not let this slow death linger for decades. Let’s find out who we really are!

So, dear readers, do you think I am being too radical? What other options do you see?

Well,, now you know what I’m thinking. What are your thoughts?

  1. The GOP is now stuck in a trap of their own making. The House has only the nuclear option, nothing more.

They will do a modified option #2, because option #1 is political suicide. They will go along to get along as Obama and his toadies in the press beat them like bongo drums.

  2. I haven’t like Boehner since his first day as speaker. He has got to go now but betcha that doesn’t happen.
A third party has a lot of appeal.

  3. Imho, the biggest disappointment of the election was the Senate outcome. That is where Republicans let a golden opportunity to win control slip away.

Aiken kinda ruined it for the GOP. He set the tone for Senate losses that should have been victories.

There were more Democrat controlled seats up for grabs in 2012 than there will be in 2014. It will be an uphill battle.

Option 1 is not feasible… Option 3 – bipartisan cooperation – is our only hope and it does not look like there is much hope for that.

  4. The house holds the purse strings. They could have shut off the funding to obamacare and the EPA. Reagan shut down the government a number of times. Fired the air traffic controllers. But Boehner whipped the poor tea party folks into submission. He must go.

  5. Jim, your two options are very tempting; but in politics nothing is ever cut-and-dry.
The most likely outcome is option 3 – something in between. Some people will characterize it as a “punt”. Prolong the Bush tax cuts for another year and avoid “sequestration” while concocting some short term revenue enhancements. This will allow a full year to attack tax reform – where the real battle will be.
The main danger is that Republicans in the House will fall for the eternal trap of delivering short-term immediate revenue enhancements through the tax code in exchange for future promises of expending cuts (which will never materialize).

    1. I suspect you are right, John. But, like i said to AZ Leader, option 3 means a long painful death. That is why they will go that way. it is called “kicking-the -can”. That is all they know how to do.

  6. Democrats will seize the House in 2014 … it will only go downhill from there. No matter what happens, it is “the will of the people.” I hope they remember that later on … because believe me, if the people think life sucks now, they haven’t seen anything yet. I do not think the US will recover from an Obama presidency … but if a miracle does happen, it will be 50 to 75 years into the future.

  7. Jim, as you know, I don’t vote GOP. They have proven time and again they will blow it and despite another golden opportunity upcoming, why would this be any different?

Mark Levin also said this, paraphrasing. We’ve already been here before when FDR was voted into a second term. His own Treasury Secretary told him that Keynesian spending doesn’t work. Of course, he kept spending and got two more terms. But the country recovered and prospered ever greater.

Of course many wil say we’ll be in even more dire straits after 8 years of Obama so it is unrecoverable. Those people should just give up now and try to make the best of the rest of their life. Those of us who won’t give up until we can no longer fight will always search for a way out.

  8. I’m with Bunker on the funding from the House. They hold the purse. If they truly represent the Republican majority, they would stop funding for Obamacare, the EPA, all GREEN energy projects, turn Medicaid back to the States, stop funding for land grabs, the National Education Assoc. (i.e. Core Curriculum insanity), universities, ….really, all of it. Stop the madness.

That is truly the only thing that will get us out of this mess….and Boehner wants to play footsy? Stop the flow of our money. Tax revolt. The ONLY thing that will work.

Third parties only fracture the situation more and cause chaos….no majority. Solves NOTHING. It is either fix the Republican Party or just give up entirely. For quite some time now, the establishment Republican Party has been just as “Progessive” as the Democrats. And until the Republican establishment gets that, they will continue to lose every election. The only ones they win now are people voting for the least of the worst, save a very few.

    Welcome to Rome…

  9. Cheryl, like the vast majority of Americans, is caught on the treadmill of thinking that doing the same thing over and over again will produce a new result.
It is all one mongrel dog party Cheryl. They convince the masses that there is some difference which there is not. They simply expand government, power and control. But they capture and monopolize us. We are hostages.

Once again, this election proves my point. So will the next one. Btw, I saw that video. It’s just a regurgitation of that same old opinion held by the minions and their hostage takers.

Sometimes, the only escape calls for killing the hostage takers. Something new and different.

  10. it will be interesting to see how the house reacts moving forward, I don’t like what I hear from Boehner at all and I have thought for awhile he should be replaced. I don’t see that happening but it would be a good start. As for Obama’s failures leading to a senate majority in 2014, I thought his failures would get him voted out and I was wrong so I am not counting on anything different in 2014.

  11. First of all, John Boehner needs to be replaced as Speaker. I’m not convinced that will happen, but we need new leadership in the House. He is one reason why we are now faced with sequestration and tax increases. I get the feeling he is a very poor negotiate.

We need to face the truth. No matter which option the Republicans choose, they will be castigated for it by the Democrats and the media will gladly help them out. I’m not sure they can win this battle, at least with the current battleground we have.

    1. How can the Republicans be blamed under option 2 , Larry? Option 2 is full capitulation. they give Obama any and every thing he wants. When the economy crashes, how can the Republicans be blamed? It is a choice between a slow painful death and a quick death. i fObama is blamed, rightly so, for the quick death, then maybe the remaining patriots will have some chance of rebuilding our of the ashes.

  12. .

” What other options do you see?”

First, see the world as it is.

Come to grips with reality. We the people won’t be doing as a result of this election:

We are not going to have a Supreme Court that will overturn Roe vs Wade
We’re not going to repeal health reform
Nobody is going to kill Medicare
We’re not going to give a 20% tax cut to millionaires and billionaires and expect programs like food-stamps and kids health insurance to cover the costs
We’re not going to redefine rape
We’re not going to make you clear it with your boss to get birth control
We’re not going to amend the constitution to stop gay people from getting married
We’re not going to double Guantanamo
We’re not going to eliminate the Department of Energy or Education or Housing
We’re not going to spend $2 trillion on the military that the military doesn’t want
We’re not going to scale back on student loans
We’re not vetoing The Dream Act
    We’re not self-deporting
We’re not letting Detroit go bankrupt
We’re not starting a trade war with China
We’re not going to have as Secretary of State a John Bolton
We’re not bringing Dick Cheney back
We’re not going to have a foreign policy shop stocked with architects of the Iraq War

    Dispel RW delusions.

Ohio really did go to the president last night.
    And he really did win.
And he really was born in Hawaii.
And he really is -legitimately- President of the United States…Again
And the Bureau of Labor Statistics did not make-up a fake unemployment rate last month.
And the Congressional Research Service really can find no evidence that cutting taxes on rich people grows the economy.
And the polls were not skewed to over-sample Democrats.
And Nate Silver was not making up fake projections about the election to make conservatives feel bad…he was doing math.
    And climate change is real.
And rape really does cause pregnancy sometimes.
    And evolution is a thing.
And Benghazi was an attack on us. It was not a scandal by us.
And no one is taking away anyone’s guns.
    And taxes haven’t gone up.
And the deficit is dropping, actually.
And Saddam Hussein didn’t have weapons of mass destruction.
And the moon landing was real.
And FEMA isn’t building concentration camps.
And UN election observers aren’t taking over Texas.
And moderate reforms of the regulations on the insurance industry and the financial services industry are not the same thing as communism.

Option 3 – Have a nice day. USA won. The votes affirm their support for President Obama.

    1. Hi, Ema. Thank you for rubbing salt in our wounds. That was nice of you. But…

Yes, we are going to have more poverty in America.
Yes, the midlle class will continue to shrink and ther wages will continue to decline.
Yes, we will have more unemployment.
Yes, electricity and energy prices will have to skyrocket.
Yes, we will add another five trillion dollars to our debt.
Yes, America’s credit rating will be down graded again.
Yes, we will all be more equal niw as we are reduced to our lowest common denominator.
Yes, women will have all the contraceptives they want and kill all the babies they wasnt.
Yes, The Anointed One will continue to prepare the path to war in the Middle East.

      And…well you get the picture.

But, you are right about one thing, Ema. You all did win. And, I sincerely hope that we conservatives have been totally wrong in what the impact of four more years of Obama “leadership” will be on America. I mean that. I sicerely hope that you all will be just as happy in four years as you are today. However, I won’t be banking on that.

      1. .

“You all did win. And, I sincerely hope that we conservatives have been totally wrong in what the impact of four more years of Obama “leadership” will be on America. ”

USA did win; all of US, you included.

How many times do you have to be wrong before you come to the realization that you have been and are wrong? Since the people elected Mr Obama in 2008; you, your blog, and your compatriots have been soiling yourselves over the ABSOLUTE certainty of the gloom and doom that will befall USA. And none of it has come true.

Yes USA is far from perfect. Yes mistakes have been made. But the people of USA are working together to fix the problems. The number of private sector jobs have increased, unemployment has decreased, meaningless wars ended, and positive health care coverage has increased under President Obama’s _leadership_!

“However, I won’t be banking on that.” No but you will be benefiting from it (all the while denying it).

      2. Well, Jim, I will tell you what I think, some people have all the answers and know everything. I really, really wish I was one of those people, but apparently I just do not fit that category, as you do not. I wish I was so upbeat about the shape of our country, but I guess I DO know a bit about what is going on, not everything, but a bit. I am really getting tired of having sunshine pounded up by butt, that everything will be alright, it will not be and I think the country is going to tank in the very near future. I hope I am wrong, as well, but I just don’t think so. At my old age, I have seen people like this man (term used lightly) in the past, they are flim flam, con artists that find those that are gullible that will believe them. I feel sorry for anyone that fits that category, I really, really do. The sun will come out tomorrow, yes it will, but it will not be a happy day…no, not until we cleanse OUR HOUSE of the filth and scum that is occupying it. It might take 4 years, IF we have that long, but that will be my goal.

    2. The votes affirm America’s support of Obama? LOL! The Communist Party USA also endorsed Obama in both elections. Thus, they too confirmed their votes for Obama. You voted right along beside them. You must be very proud miss.

  13. You call him Bohner, I call him Boner… This guy with the tear filled eyes of an alcoholic already surrendered to Obama Care on day one. The rest of the republican dolts in the house will be too busy running for re-election in 2014 to trouble themselves with firing Boner or with holding funding from Obama’s socialist programs. Besides, doing so will increase their chances of being unseated in two years. Self interest along with coeardice are the operative words here.
    Words here

  14. Maybe the truth is this: that enough of the electorate have descended into “I’ll vote for the guy who gives me free stuff” far enough to be a sea change — no matter what so-called repairs the GOP does.

If Mustang is correct with his comment above and the House goes to the Dems in 2014, any future for America will be short-lived.

Right now, even without a Dem majority in the House, we are living in “America” — not in America.

  15. Jim,
Ema (aka Enema) is hopping all over the web and copying and pasting the same comment with that stupid list that Enema, no doubt, stole from another Leftist. In other words, Enema is spamming several conservative sites — and I’ve seen that spamming with my own eyes.

There’s no point in have a discussion with Enema. You can’t fix stupid.

    1. AOW, that is the type of person that can not think for herself/himself. Take things from another post and repost it, how typical. Followers, that is what they have become, repeaters, if you will. At least we are still able to put together into words what WE feel, not talking points that we have been directed to say. Sad, isn’t it?
