Do Not Let Congress Off Of The ObamaCare Hook!!!

This story broke last week and I saved this article from Forbes,  but didn’t get around to blog about it. So, it’s not new news and I suppose it is not even surprising news.  But, it makes my blood boil. Back in 2009 and 2010, the Democrat controlled House and Senate were having difficulties in getting the votes to pass the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare.

When the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) was being debated, proponents were accused of saddling Americans with inferior and expensive health care while keeping generous coverage for themselves at taxpayer expense. To rebut that allegation and build confidence in the bill, a provision was added mandating that members of Congress – and their staff members – get their coverage through the new exchange system the bill set up. Now that the time to sign up for exchange coverage is nearing, a Democratic member, Rep. John Larson (D., Conn.), is saying that “this is simply not fair” – as key staff members head for the exits to avoid Obamacare. _ (Emphasis added)

NOT FAIR, you say, Congressman Larson? You’re breaking my heart! I’ve got news for you Congressman. If ObamaCare isn’t good enough for you all, it damn sure isn’t good enough for any America. If Congress wants off of the ObamaCare hook, we all deserve to get off of the ObamaCare hook.

Oh, and the Forbes article had this gem of a quote from Politico:

Politico reports that “many on Capitol Hill fear it could lead to a brain drain” and notes that “[t]he problem is far more acute in the House, where lawmakers and aides are generally younger and less wealthy.”

A brain drain? Seriously? I’d say good riddance!

And, that’s what I’m thinking. What are your thoughts?

  1. This isn’t surprising. After all, the law of the land does not apply to our elected representatives,er, I mean “rulers.”

They are above us and above the law.

If only I lived in a Republic.

  2. The sorriest political joke of our era is shortening the name of “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” – Obamacare – to just “The Affordable Care Act”.

Unless repealed or seriously revamped, the cost of “The Affordable Care Act” will bury the United States economically.

The main eye-candy that sold Obamacare to the public is in place… you can’t be turned down for pre-existing conditions. It and other costly new required services are driving up health care premiums right now, opposite to what was promised but obvious to bean counters.

Pretty much everything promised about Obamacare’s price-tag has proven to be in error.

The serious costs will start piling up in 2014 when 30+ million more Americans qualify for Medicaid and it is discovered that requiring all Americans to buy insurance will not remotely be enough to cover the cost to pay for it.

  3. I couldn’t agree more! It is hard to feel sorry for a government official when he says a law he helped to pass is unfair while he looks to exempt himself from a law he is forcing the American people to comply with. he helped to make this bed the least he can do is lie in it.
