“Quislings” a poem by the Bard of Murdock

The Bard of Murdock is on vacation this week so I trolled his 2011 archives and found this poem that reminds us that Obama’s interest in the e-mails of his enemies is nothing new. This poem was originally published on December 15, 2011. Please be sure to read the article linked by the Bard before reading the poem.

***********

Quislings

 .
 .
Some say I’m antisocial, though
I think myself reserved.
My kids say I am reticent;
Such feelings are deserved.
 .
But in a modern world enthralled
With social intercourse,
I find I’d rather be alone:
Just me, my wife and horse.
And when I hear the evening news
Or read a bit online,
It serves to reinforce my plan
To stick with me and mine.
 .
I offer as Exhibit A
Which asks supporters to reveal
Their friends’ e-mail for spite.
 .
Imagine having Barry’s spam
Appearing in your mail;
I’d rather spend a week alone
Inside a humpback whale.
 .
It causes me to thank the Lord
For having not supplied
A Democratic friend or two
With whom I could be tied.
.

My goal is to produce poetical cartoons. I try to use metaphors and caricatures (or a politician’s own words) to address complex political and social situations. In this way, I sum up current events in humorous verse.
