The Second Amendment and Foreign Relations _ Obama Doesn’t Get It

Most conservatives/libertarians would give President Obama failing grades in every aspect of being an American president. Today, let’s just look at two subjects: gun controls and foreign relations.

The World Needs Its Own Second Amendment

Every time there is a senseless mass killing somewhere in the world, fools like Piers Morgan and Barack Obama immediately call for more gun controls. The loved ones of the victims and sensible people, on the other hand, wish that someone at the scenes had been armed and prevented, at least, some of the needless deaths. Following the four-day bloodbath at the Westgate Mall in Kenya, Interpol Chief Ronald Nobel thinks it is time for the world to rethink its gun control panacea:

“Ask yourself: If that was Denver, Col., if that was Texas, would those guys have been able to spend hours, days, shooting people randomly?” Noble said, referring to states with pro-gun traditions. “What I’m saying is it makes police around the world question their views on gun control. It makes citizens question their views on gun control. You have to ask yourself, ‘Is an armed citizenry more necessary now than it was in the past with an evolving threat of terrorism?’ This is something that has to be discussed.”

“For me it’s a profound question,” he continued. “People are quick to say ‘gun control, people shouldn’t be armed,’ etc., etc. I think they have to ask themselves: ‘Where would you have wanted to be? In a city where there was gun control and no citizens armed if you’re in a Westgate mall, or in a place like Denver or Texas?’”

I won’t be holding my breath that the UN will take up Mr.Nobel’s rational way of thinking and certainly not Barack Obama or Piers Morgan. They are not capable of rational thought.

President Obama Is A Foreign Relations Disaster

Who would have thought that a unkown community organizer from Chicago could become President of the greatest nation the world has ever known and in less than five years destroy its prestige and most of its influence in world affairs to the point that many allied nations now question if America is a  reliable friend or not.

President Obama’s “Russian Reset” was a joke. His apology tour to Cairo was an embarrassment. His meddling in Egypt, Libya, and Syria has probably cost thousands of lives. And, his use of the NSA to spy on friend as well as foe has angered many nations.

Let’s start with the NSA spying. Fox News reports that as a result of Eric Snowden, traitor or whistleblower depending on one’s point of view, leaking to the world what America’s National Security Agency (NSA) has been up to some our nation’s long time friends are outraged and demanding explanations from President Obama: Mexico, Brazil, Germany, and most recently France. What does  State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf have to say to our friends?

On the NSA front, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf noted Monday that the Obama administration is formally reviewing its intelligence-gathering activities, while also reassuring other countries “that we take their concerns seriously.”

She stressed that the intelligence is collected to protect allies’ citizens as well.

“People understand the value of intelligence gathering around the world, right? It’s where the balance lies between privacy and security, and those are the conversations we’re having right now,” she said.

Yeah. I’m sure that will make our friends feel better, Ms. Harf. It’s for their own good, right?

Now let’s look at how well President Obama’s approach to  foreign relations in the Middle East have worked out. If his goal was for America to give up decades of influence in this vital region (supplier of energy to the world) and let Russia and China fill the void, then we would have to say his policies have been a roaring success.

Under Mr. Obama’s leadership from behind, we walked away from Iraq with nothing to show for ten years of war (Bush’s war). And, it looks like his leadership from behind will have the same result in Afghanistan after fourteen years of war. Obama’s leadership from behind has turned Libya into a noman’s land where multiple jihadist groups can train terrorist to send out into the world. In Egypt, Mr. Obama was almost successful in turning it into another Islamist state led by the Muslim Brotherhood. Thankfully, the people of Egypt demanded change and their military responded. Now our leader from behind is threatening to cut off aid to Egypt if they don’t stop arresting the jihadist members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Apparently there are still more Christians that need to be killed. Egyptians needn’t worry, however, because Russian President Putin is standing by with open arms. Finally, because Mr. Obama was out maneuvered by Putin in Syria, Obama actually did the right thing ( not attacking Syria) for the wrong reasons. That has earned America the wrath of Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, the U.A.E. and most definitely Saudi Arabia for not fighting their Sunni war against the Shi’as for them. So, even when Obama is forced by Russia to do the right thing in Syria, America’s foreign relations in the region are severely damaged.

Apparently, the only thing Mr. Obama is good at is winning elections and harming America. What will be left of America in three more years?

Well, that’s what I’m thinking. What are your thoughts?

  1. First of all, someone needs to check Ronald Nobel and see if he is running a fever. I’ve seen very few international figures, or liberal American politicians, who think their positions through on issues like gun control, instead of having the same knee-jerk reaction many liberals automatically have. Nobel has to be sick and I hope it’s contagious.

As for Obama, I couldn’t agree more with your assessment of him. He knows how to win elections and villi his political opponents, but actually leading the country and running the government is well beyond his scope of expertise.

  2. Just as Obama did in five years to race relations in this country what the Soviet Union took decades to fail at so is Obama doing in five years the to the power, the might, the credibility of the US around the world; and he’s not done yet. It seems that the Chinese, the Koreans and the Russians will let him continue on his merry way like a one man wrecking crew. While he continues on his quest to denude the country of everything it once held dear he saves our enemies money and manpower, doing their work for them. Meanwhile the congress is silent whether due to partisan politics on one side and lack of leadership, vision and balls on the other.

  3. The curtain has been lifted with his apparently lack of interest in the state of his signature legislation. Not to even have the curiosity to look at his website, or ask if it works tells it all. Even the left will have trouble spinning this one.

      1. I don’t see it going that way though that is in his mind. The majority of people get their healthcare via their employer. This really only effects about 10 percent of the population. 33 States have signed on to the Federal exchanges, not state run. Unless they gain the House in 2014 the House will not support single payer. Just my IMO..
